- Hunter poison, traps and Rapid Fire are different build plans. Their set bonuses refer to Poisoned enemies, trap direct hits or Physical/channel damage, so first identify the damage source you intend to repeat.
- Venomfang supports poison; Trapper’s Legacy supports trap hits and rearming; Deadeye’s Resolve supports Physical damage and Rapid Fire. Count only the threshold actually equipped.
- Official h improves several Hunter attacks and talents. The guide uses those announced changes as version context, not a measured strongest-build result.

The three families have slot restrictions. Putting both Poison Trap and Frost Trap into the two Specials leaves no third slot for Phantom Form or Flare. A Rapid Fire plan must use the Strong slot; it is not a Basic attack that simply accelerates with every Basic-only bonus. Write the complete four-slot setup before allocating a talent that names a specific ability.

Compare the actual rune effects
| Set | 2 pieces | 4 pieces | 6 pieces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venomfang | +70% damage against Poisoned enemies | Poison slows movement 25% and attack speed 20% for five seconds; reapplication refreshes it | Poison Shot has a 50% chance for a 120% weapon Poison area projectile that poisons hits |
| Trapper’s Legacy | +60% direct trap damage | Trap hits apply Death Mark for 3.5 seconds, giving +30% Critical Chance against marked enemies | Traps rearm seven seconds after triggering; a new cast replaces that ability’s trap |
| Deadeye’s Resolve | +50% Physical damage | 25% damage reduction while channeling Rapid Fire | Rapid Fire arrows pierce up to three targets |

The first rune slot is reported at hero level forty, then another at forty-five, fifty, fifty-five, sixty and sixty-five. A level-one Poison Shot or level-ten Poison Trap can begin the skill direction long before it can use a two-piece set. Under the reported slot schedule, the minimum levels for two, four and six pieces are forty-five, fifty-five and sixty-five. Keep that progression separate from the attack’s unlock.

Poison: establish the condition before adding its bonus
Venomfang’s two-piece damage benefit requires a Poisoned enemy. Poison Shot, the application chance talent and poison-related support must therefore be considered as a system. A large Damage vs Poisoned roll is incomplete if the target does not remain poisoned during the part of the fight that matters. Its four-piece slowing effect is refreshed by applying poison; it is not a permanent speed reduction on every enemy in the map.

Venom Lore and Deadly Toxin describe different parts of the loop: the former gives damage against Poisoned targets, while the latter improves the Poisoned effect and duration in the planner. Improved Poison Shot changes application chance. Venomous Leech connects poison ticks to Life on Hit in the h announcement and captured planner, providing a specific recovery interaction to inspect rather than a generic recommendation to stack armor.

Blackcrow Recurve’s unique effect is tied to Poison ability hits and a chance to summon crows. It is not a free bonus to every Physical arrow. Before choosing it over another bow, read the actual weapon stats and ensure the main ability meets the trigger. Keep reported proc text separate from a measured number of crow casts per second.
Traps: direct hits, marks and replacement rules
Trapper’s Legacy first improves direct trap damage. Do not silently add that percentage to every Poisoned tick without evidence that the wording covers damage over time. At four pieces, Death Mark creates a short target-specific critical window. Six pieces rearm a triggered trap, while casting that same trap ability replaces its existing trap. An expected field of indefinitely accumulating traps is therefore not the plan described by the set.

Rapid Reset is a ten-spent capstone described as subtracting two seconds from trap cooldowns when a Strong attack is cast. Quick Traps changes the trap cooldown, Oversized Traps changes size/trigger range, and Deadly Traps changes critical chance. Those are different bottlenecks. A trap that never reaches or triggers on the desired target needs placement/size diagnosis before another critical percentage.
Evidence: AFK Meta — Hunter talent planner
Using two trap Specials is one option; using one trap plus a support Special is another. The automatic system tries the fourth slot before the third, then Strong and Basic. Observe that priority and available mana when deciding whether a Strong-to-trap cooldown interaction actually repeats as expected.
Rapid Fire: evaluate the channel under its real conditions
Rapid Fire is a level-thirty-five Strong attack. Deadeye’s two-piece benefit is Physical damage; its four-piece reduction applies while channeling, and its six-piece effect supplies piercing. Those conditions make pack coverage and channel survival central to the plan. The four-piece reduction is not an always-active sheet reduction outside the channel.
Evidence: Wikily — Hunter class sheet
Official h increases Rapid Fire damage per hit from 25% to 35% weapon damage, with higher per-level scaling. Sustained Fire’s maximum rank rises from six to eight. The captured planner describes a longer channel at maximum rank; a longer animation needs resources and survival to turn into a useful clear. Compare the same enemy group rather than equating a channel duration percentage with a total DPS gain.

Physical Brutality names the Physical abilities it supports, while Steady Aim changes Strong range. A build that fights from distance can also inspect the conditions on Sharpshooter or Long Shot. Distance, nearby-enemy count and channel state should not be assumed simultaneously favorable in every encounter.

These maximum-rank rows are not a single legal point route. Capstones in the same row remain exclusive, and reaching a spent threshold is separate from paying a point into that row. Some planner formatting displays negative cost reductions ambiguously; use the installed tooltip before relying on the direction of an unclear modifier.

Troubleshoot the chosen damage loop
| Failure | Inspect | Next comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Poison bonus seems absent | Poison application and duration | Increase the condition’s reliability before another conditional roll. |
| Traps miss the intended enemies | Target, size and trigger range | Compare a placement/coverage change on the same encounter. |
| Expected rearm disappears after a new cast | Same-ability replacement rule | Observe one triggered trap without assuming unlimited copies. |
| Rapid Fire dies midway through the channel | Active four-piece reduction, incoming damage and recovery | Keep the same weapon and compare channel survival. |
| A support Special never fires | Slot priority, mana and target | Inspect the readiness conditions rather than only its unlocked level. |

Q: Can I add poison, trap and Rapid Fire bonuses into one strongest build?
The effects refer to different damage sources and conditions. A hybrid needs a coherent four-slot and talent budget rather than the sum of every maximum description.
Q: Does h prove Hunter is now the best class?
No. It proves the developer announced particular buffs and fixes. A four-class ranking needs comparable encounter, gear and measured results.
Q: What should I keep before switching directions?
Retain the old bow, recorded talent allocation, map and recovery settings so the new family can be compared against a usable baseline.
