Quick Guide
  • Measure experience over a complete repeatable loop, including deaths and town time. The highest unlocked stage is not necessarily the best sustained XP rate.
  • AFK Meta’s 3 October data lists 100% base XP at equal/lower hero level, 83/67/50/33/17% at one to five levels above enemies, and 1 XP per kill at six or more.
  • ApolloTrail’s launch players instead described approximately zero XP beyond a six-level gap. The current XP counter and enemy levels are the check for your installed build.

Separate a level penalty from a slow combat loop

A stalled XP bar can come from different causes: enemies are far below the hero, a stronger stage takes too long, the character repeatedly dies, or town returns interrupt a potion-assisted run. Begin with two visible numbers: the hero’s level and the enemy level of the current stage. A comfortable old node can remain easy while becoming inefficient for experience. Increasing an XP bonus on that node does not establish that the level-gap penalty has disappeared.

Where a stage contains two enemy levels, AFK Meta defines the level gap from the highest to the lowest enemy level. A hero can therefore face different penalties inside the same stage. Use actual kills and the run reward rather than one enemy’s number as the total. The reference is a source-reported rule, and it does not establish that an online server applies an identical formula in every version.

ApolloTrail’s through-h page says launch players reported zero experience once enemies were about six levels below the hero. The newer reference lists a 1 XP floor. Those descriptions are close in their practical warning but differ as an exact rule, so this guide preserves both instead of claiming zero is guaranteed. An apparently motionless bar can simply reflect tiny increments relative to a much larger level requirement.

Compare actual XP per minute, not just per clear

Use a fixed observation window for each candidate node and record XP gained, elapsed time, deaths and trips to town. Calculate XP per minute as XP gained divided by total elapsed minutes. Include the time spent reviving, moving or delivering loot because those events still consume the session. A boss giving more XP per victory can lose to a regular stage if attempts fail or tickets run out. This is a measurement method you can apply, not a benchmark result collected by this article.

The example shows why a higher reward does not automatically win. Keep the same equipment, skill setup and potion state across comparisons where possible. If you level during the trial, note it: the changed enemy gap can alter the result. Use several complete runs when a short sample is dominated by one death or a random pack, and stop once the difference is sufficient for the decision.

Find the next sustainable stage

Record the current gap

Read hero and enemy levels. If several levels separate them, test a newer unlocked stage before spending heavily on bonuses.

Try the next candidate under observation

Watch health, health-potion charges, mana and clear time. Do not leave a newly unlocked node unattended just because the map allows entry.

Adjust the actual failure

A weak weapon, an unavailable ability or insufficient recovery needs its own fix. Avoid changing all equipment and talents before identifying the failure.

Compare full loops

Record gained XP over total time, including returns and revives. Use the sustainable winner for the next unattended period.

Push manually after improvement

ApolloTrail describes node repeat without automatic advance. Revisit the map after new gear or levels rather than waiting for the game to choose a harder node.

For an early example of a source-based progression ladder, AFK Meta lists Kings Woods 3 with enemies 5–6, Kings Woods 4 with 7, Kings Woods 7 with 10, Spire Hill Crypt 1 with 11–12 and Spire Hill Crypt 4 with 16. These are enemy levels, not a requirement that the hero match them or a claim that those stages are equally farmable. Use the ladder to find candidates near the hero’s level, then let survival and timed rewards settle the choice.

Add XP bonuses after fixing the node mismatch

Wikily’s XP Gained entry lists equipment rolls on Helm, Chest Armor, Gloves, Belt, Pants, Ring and Necklace, plus XP nodes in several Life Skill branches and the Experience Potion. Its XP branch lists XP Gain I 150 gold after Auto Recovery 50, giving a source-reported 10% bonus. That short route totals 200 gold by addition. A bonus improves the reward of a productive loop; it is not a reason to keep farming enemies that are heavily outleveled.

A piece of XP equipment can cost damage or survival. Compare the complete-loop rate before replacing strong combat gear with multiple bonus pieces. If the character slows enough or dies more often, the nominal XP percentage may not improve the session. A single stable setup with some XP gain is easier to evaluate than alternating potion, gear and node simultaneously. The sources identify where the stat can appear; they do not supply a universal optimal percentage for every build.

The Experience Potion reference gives 15% experience for one hour, while ApolloTrail reports ending at town return and possible buff loss on death. A bonus intended for a long loop may be wasted by a short cart-filling trip. Prepare space and a sustainable node first, and inspect the actual active effect after transitions. The dedicated potion guide covers the recipe and category rules.

Do not diagnose an enemy-level penalty as a drop-rate problem. Equipment automation changes retained loot, and hauling limits affect how long a trip lasts; neither source describes them as removing XP level scaling. Treat the systems as connected interruptions with separate controls. Record the change that improved the timed rate so the next comparison starts from an understood setup.

XP stall questions

Q: Is XP guaranteed to be zero at six levels above enemies?

No. ApolloTrail records approximate-zero launch reports, while AFK Meta lists 1 XP per kill at a gap of six or more. Check your current counter.

Q: Should I always farm the highest unlocked node?

Only if the full repeatable loop is more productive. Repeated deaths and long clears can make a lower candidate better.

Q: Does a boss stage always level me faster?

The sources show higher encounter rewards, but not a universal XP-per-minute ranking across builds. Compare total time and entry costs.

Q: Does the hero choose a harder stage automatically?

ApolloTrail says node repeat does not auto-advance. Select the next stage manually after the setup improves.

Q: Will an XP stat fix severe overleveling?

The reference lists bonuses and level-gap penalties separately. Choose a productive stage before optimizing bonus equipment.

Q: Can I reuse a result after several level-ups?

Recheck the gap and survival. Both the hero’s damage and the reward penalty can change the preferred node.
