Quick Guide
  • Wikily reports automatic revival after an eight-second countdown, reduced by Life Skills, on the same stage with full HP and mana. Key-gated stages have an additional entry-item condition; town return is a separate choice.
  • Death costs time and can interrupt buffs or cast counters. Inspect the cause and the repeat setting before shortening the timer or leaving a difficult node unattended.

What to expect after a death

The official 0.1.9 announcement introduces a countdown followed by auto-revive with full HP and HP-potion charges. Wikily’s later death reference is more specific: a death notice appears after 1.5 seconds, the base revive countdown is eight seconds, the hero returns on the same stage with full health and mana, and charges refill with Auto Refill. These are differently detailed source scopes. Inspect your current skill and resulting charges rather than treating the early announcement as proof of every later condition.

Read the recovery state
StateSource-reported behaviorWhat to inspect
Ordinary stage, entry permittedRevive on the same stageHP, mana and whether combat resumes
Skull/Treasure-Key stageRevive there only while an entry item remainsCurrent entry inventory and stage tooltip
Entry item absent on gated stageSent to townThe actual required key, not a remembered map name
Choose town on death screenImmediate town return with HP/mana restoredNew node choice and charge recovery
Auto Refill purchasedCharges refill during the reported revive flowActual remaining potion charges

Wikily says gated entry items are consumed when the stage is cleared. That differs from third-party instructions that describe every boss attempt consuming a skull. Do not use the latter account as a universal death penalty. Record the stage’s actual entry wording and before/after key count if you need to diagnose a discrepancy.

Count the costs you can observe

A shorter revive countdown does not make repeated death a productive route. Time spent waiting replaces time spent clearing. ApolloTrail also reports player observations that potion buffs end on death, while official h resets own-cast talent counters on death or area change. A build relying on an active potion or the seventh Basic cast can therefore restart a condition as well as the fight.

For a limited wait-only example, ten deaths at an eight-second countdown imply eighty seconds of countdown time. At a two-second countdown, the same ten imply twenty, a sixty-second reduction. This excludes the death-notice delay, travel and combat already lost, so it is not a complete run-time estimate. Reducing deaths can be more valuable than reducing their countdown, depending on how much progress each failed encounter interrupts.

Inspect the timer upgrades and their route

Wikily listed countdown reductions
Node label as capturedReductionListed cost
Revive Cooldown Reduction I1 second150 gold
Revive Cooldown Reduction I, later entry1 second6,000 gold
Revive Cooldown Reduction II3 seconds8,000 gold
Revive Cooldown Reduction I, further entry1 second25,000 gold

The four reported reductions total six seconds, bringing an eight-second countdown to two. The source also gives a one-second floor, which does not mean these four nodes reach that floor. Their listed purchase costs sum to 39,150 gold before prerequisites. Repeated labels identify separate source entries, so use tree position and connecting requirements when finding them. Do not confuse a reduction in countdown with Auto Recovery or Auto Refill.

If a node is hidden, inspect prerequisite connections rather than assuming the upgrade was removed. Make one purchase, return to the same failing encounter and watch the timer. If the hero still dies every run, inspect survival and node choice before spending more solely on faster failure.

Return to town deliberately

Choose the live return control

Wikily lists R or the Return to Town (R) button. Its reference reports a three-second channel rather than an instant teleport during live play.

Avoid cancelling your own return

The same source says another R press, death or an area change cancels the channel. Press once and observe the result.

Use the death-screen town choice when appropriate

This is a separate immediate-return flow in the death reference. It is useful when you want to stop retrying the current stage.

Inspect recovery and inventory in town

Check HP, mana, potion charges, carriage delivery and protected equipment before selecting another node.

Choose the next action

An easier repeat node, equipment comparison or a potion-threshold change addresses a cause; simply re-entering the same failure does not.

Town is also a useful transition for sorting what happened to loot. Do not assume that an item missing from the bag was lost because of death: filtering, selling, salvage, collection and save mismatch are different possibilities. The death source does not certify a universal carried-inventory wipe. Keep the last known location and action for a valuable item.

Use the log to locate the interruption

Wikily places Log in Combat Settings (C). It reports entries for the killer and damage type, obtained items, selling, salvage, level gains and clears. The list is oldest-first, keeps the newest 1,000 lines, has no timestamps and is not retained in the save. Record an external time and screenshot while the evidence is available; restarting and expecting the same diagnostic history can lose useful context.

  • Compare the last “Killed by” entry with the chosen node and enemy level.
  • Check whether a wanted item was obtained, sold or salvaged before calling it a death loss.
  • Record the run-cleared time and the following action; combat success alone does not prove another run started.
  • Inspect Auto Rerun: Wikily reports it off by default and shared on the PC across characters.
  • If Auto Rerun is on, expect the source-reported four-second stage or eight-second Rift summary countdown; it repeats the same map rather than unlocking a new route.

Q: Does every death consume a skull?

Wikily reports entry items consumed on stage clear, with continued revival depending on still holding one. Compare the installed stage tooltip; conflicting attempt-based guides are not a verified universal rule.

Q: Why does R seem not to work?

The reported three-second channel can be cancelled by another R press, death or an area change. Observe one press before repeating it.

Q: Is a two-second revive the minimum?

It is the result of the four listed upgrades in Wikily’s model. The source separately states a one-second floor; the listed nodes do not reach it.

Q: Why did the hero stop after a clear?

Check the Auto Rerun toggle and summary countdown before assuming death recovery or progression is broken.
