Quick Guide
  • A Combat Potion, Utility Potion and Food can occupy separate buff categories. A second consumable of the same type replaces that type’s active effect; it is not another simultaneous stack.
  • The Health Potion is a separate charged healing system. Buying Combat Potion Auto-Use does not change its HP threshold or upgrade its healing tier.
  • Automatic consumables must be assigned to their unlocked category slot and present in inventory. The captured slot reference triggers use during combat when the assigned buff is absent.

Four systems that should not be confused

Wikily consumable and combat references
SystemPurposeTrigger / replacementAutomation prerequisite
Health PotionImmediate plus delayed HP recovery using chargesHP percentage setting and a five-second cooldownHP setting; Auto Refill handles replenishment separately
Combat Potion / flaskA temporary combat stat or ability-support buffOne active Combat buff; another Combat consumable replaces itCombat Potion Auto-Use Slot, reported 2,500 gold
Utility PotionXP, gold or movement supportOne active Utility buff; another Utility item replaces itUtility Potion Auto-Use Slot, reported 25,000 gold
FoodA separate Food buff categoryOne active Food buff; another Food replaces itFood Auto-Use Slot, reported 100,000 gold

Read the category line rather than guessing from an item’s name. Potion of Speed is explicitly a Utility Potion in its item record. Flask of the Swift appears under Combat Potions in the consumables list. Their movement-speed and attack-speed effects solve different problems even though both sound like speed support. One can coexist with the other by category; two competing Combat flasks require a choice.

A slot is an automatic-use setting, not an extra category of buff. Manual use can activate a consumable before its automatic slot is purchased, but owning the item does not itself assign it for repeated use. Similarly, the Health Potion orb and its charges are not a stack of Alchemist flasks. Keep the healing system and temporary buffs separate when diagnosing an unattended run.

Useful effect choices and their actual jobs

AFK Meta alchemy data, labeled 3 October 2026; all entries below report one hour
ItemReported effectIngredient cost per craftA question it can answer
Flask of the Swift+10% Attack Speed3 Starleaf + 1 Demon’s SkullDoes the Basic attack loop need more attack opportunities?
Greater Flask of Focus10% Cooldown Reduction6 Starleaf + 2 Frostheart CrystalAre Strong/Special timers limiting the chosen loop?
Greater Flask of Efficiency10% Mana Cost Reduction6 Tidesilk Kelp + 2 Redrock ShardAre abilities failing because the hero cannot afford them?
Flask of the Ironbark+20% Armor6 Oak Leaf + 2 Elder Oak BarkIs this a suitable defensive property for the damage received?
Greater Flask of Slaying+20% damage against Elites and Bosses6 Desert Rose + 2 Crimson Wyrm EyeIs the shortage specifically an elite or boss fight?
Experience Potion+15% XP gained15 MushroomCan a stable node turn the XP bonus into useful progress?
Potion of Gold+15% gold gained3 Starleaf + 2 Gold OreIs the goal gold rather than another utility effect?
Potion of Speed+15% Movement Speed4 StarleafIs movement between encounters a relevant delay?

The table connects a reported effect to a decision, not to a universal ranking. Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction and Mana Cost Reduction are three different properties. An ability failing its mana check will not necessarily start working because the hero moves faster. A boss-only damage condition may add little to an ordinary farming node. Choose the shortage first, then the effect that actually changes it.

Craft and carry the chosen pair

Wikily reports that the Alchemist’s Shop opens at player level five for 500 gold and five Mushroom. Individual potion crafts use the listed ingredients without a further gold fee in this reference. The named Alchemists are Zahra in the City of Tazan, Mira in the City of Aldenreach and Solveig in the City of Veldak. Confirm the recipe offered in the shop before spending ingredients, particularly if you are following a guide written before the launch patches.

An hour on the description is the advertised duration, not proof of uninterrupted uptime through death, town return or an equipment change. Apollo’s launch guide reports buffs ending on death and an XP potion ending on town return. Those are player reports, so observe the actual buff icon through the interruption you expect. Buying automation can replace a missing buff, but it still consumes the next item from inventory.

Stack size needs the individual item

The older launch guide says potions stack to ten. The retained Potion of Speed record says twenty. This conflict is not resolved by applying either number to every consumable. Read the stack limit and current count for the exact item you intend to carry.

Set up one observed run before leaving it unattended

Open Combat Settings

Use C, as named in the captured combat reference. Separate the Health Potion percentage control from the consumable assignment slots.

Check the category unlock

A Combat unlock does not also open Utility or Food. Inspect whether the intended type’s slot is available.

Assign the actual item

Select the desired consumable in the matching slot and keep a usable stack in inventory. The captured rule consumes from inventory, not merely from a wishlist or stored recipe.

Enter a fight

Observe whether the buff appears during combat when it is absent. Standing in town is not a valid test of that trigger.

Watch an interruption

Record stock and buff icons through a return or death. Decide whether replenishment keeps the intended pair sustainable.

Two consumables are not used less than 0.2 seconds apart according to the slot reference. A tiny delay between icons is therefore different from a persistent failure. Test the categories separately if you cannot tell which item fired. The stock remaining after several complete loops is more informative than a single successful activation.

Q: Can Combat and Utility potions run together?

The captured consumable reference describes separate categories. One of each can provide its own buff; another item of the same type replaces that type’s effect.

Q: Does Food use the Utility slot?

No. The captured auto-use system has a separate Food slot and separate Life Skill unlock.

Q: Does Auto Refill restock crafted flasks?

Its source description is about Health Potion charges after town or revive. Do not treat it as creating or refilling your crafted Combat and Utility inventory stacks.

Q: Which utility effect should I choose for farming?

Choose the goal you are actually measuring: XP, gold or movement. A stable repeated node and adequate inventory matter before an extra utility percentage can pay off.
