- Auto-Sell targets gold; Auto-Salvage targets crafting materials. Compare and keep upgrades before assigning their rarity to either action.
- AFK Meta and Wikily describe both actions occurring at pickup during combat; ApolloTrail describes an older town-return sale. Check the wording in your installed build.
- The unofficial Gold Find branch lists Auto-Salvage at 35,000 gold after two Capacity I nodes. The full prerequisite route totals 50,700 gold if none is already learned.
Choose the resource that unblocks your next action
A disposable drop has three competing uses: an NPC sale funds purchases, salvage supplies crafting materials, and keeping it preserves an equipment candidate. Start at the service you want to use next. If Equipment Auto-Sell or a recovery skill is unaffordable, selling unwanted gear addresses the gold bill. If a visible upgrade recipe is short of Iron Ore, Gold Ore, Soul Shards or Earth Essence, inspect salvage instead. These are different bottlenecks, so a single rule should not run forever simply because it was convenient at level 5.
Evidence: Salvage · Deskrawl Life Skills: the Account Tree, Shared by Every Class | AFK Meta
| Next bottleneck | Prefer | Inspect before committing |
|---|---|---|
| A gold-priced Life Skill | Sell genuinely unwanted equipment | Exact remaining gold, plus prerequisites |
| A material-priced upgrade | Salvage disposable eligible equipment | Recipe material, item rarity and level |
| An undergeared slot or new build | Pick Up and compare | Weapon damage, useful modifiers and the equipped slot |
| A valuable or tradable item | Retain and handle individually | Lock state, market eligibility and loss confirmation |
Evidence: Salvage · Inventory, Storage and Carriage
Rarity is a convenient bulk rule, not an item evaluation. ApolloTrail recounts a launch Hunter who auto-sold Uncommon gear while using a +6 Common weapon, then escaped the progression wall by keeping a better bow. Use that as the failure pattern: if the filter destroys every possible replacement, upgrades cannot reach the inventory. Reopen the keep category when changing zones, weapon family or build.

Find the Auto-Salvage route and budget for prerequisites
The AFK Meta list dated 3 October 2026 and Wikily’s Gold Find branch agree on this route. Their repeated Capacity I name makes the connection important: follow the 6,000-gold Capacity I from Equipment Auto-Sell, then its 8,000-gold Capacity I, then Equipment Auto-Salvage. Buying a different Capacity I elsewhere is not shown as satisfying this branch. The costs below are source-reported node prices; the totals are our arithmetic, not an extra fee.
Evidence: Deskrawl Life Skills: the Account Tree, Shared by Every Class | AFK Meta · Gold Find branch
| Node in route | Node cost | Cumulative from an empty tree |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Recovery | 50 gold | 50 |
| Gold Find I directly after Auto Recovery | 150 gold | 200 |
| Equipment Auto-Sell | 1,500 gold | 1,700 |
| Capacity I after Auto-Sell | 6,000 gold | 7,700 |
| Capacity I after that Capacity I | 8,000 gold | 15,700 |
| Equipment Auto-Salvage | 35,000 gold | 50,700 |
Evidence: Gold Find branch · Deskrawl Life Skills: the Account Tree, Shared by Every Class | AFK Meta
If Auto-Sell is already purchased and none of the remaining nodes is owned, the remaining route is 49,000 gold. If both Capacity nodes are owned, the listed final purchase is 35,000. Inspect learned nodes before saving for the headline cost: a displayed 35,000-gold destination can still be several purchases away. ApolloTrail’s narrower beginner recommendation to salvage unwanted Rare gear does not establish this complete route; the newer references provide it.

Use rarity to identify the material family
Wikily’s salvage reference describes blacksmith salvage by rarity and item level. It lists Iron Ore for Common, Uncommon and Rare equipment; Gold Ore begins at Rare; Earth Essence begins at Legendary; and Soul Shards may appear across the listed rarities. Those manual-salvage tables are useful for identifying material families, but the source does not separately demonstrate that automatic salvage has identical yields in every client or Online Mode.
Evidence: Salvage
| Rarity | Listed materials | Soul Shard chance |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Iron Ore; possible Soul Shard | 10% |
| Uncommon | Iron Ore; possible Soul Shard | 20% |
| Rare | Iron Ore and Gold Ore; possible Soul Shard | 40% |
| Legendary | Gold Ore and Earth Essence; possible Soul Shard | 70% |
| Divine | Gold Ore, Earth Essence and Soul Shard | Always in this reference |
Evidence: Salvage
The same reference gives quantity as a base plus an item-level term, rounded down, then varied between 85% and 115%, and says the same item salvages the same way. Back items are an exception with 1 Iron Ore. That means item level and slot matter alongside color. Do not use the table’s level-700 demonstration amounts as expected returns from an early-game drop. Compare your real item tooltip and the material panel before scaling the automatic policy.

Apply a conservative carriage rule
Reserve the candidates
Inspect the current weapon and weak slots. Lock equipment you want to retain, and move reserve gear to storage before doing bulk work.
Choose one rarity to change
Open Carriage Settings and read the available action for that rarity. Start with a category that no longer supplies upgrades.
Match the output to the bill
Choose Auto-Sell for the gold goal or Auto-Salvage for the material goal. Do not assume two disposal actions stack on the same item.
Observe a short run
Compare gold, material quantities and carriage occupancy before and after a run containing eligible drops. Automatic disposal can leave little gear in the cart.
Review after the purchase
Once the target recipe or unlock is finished, reassess whether the same resource still limits progress. Keep a newly useful rarity until its replacements are evaluated.
Evidence: Inventory, Storage and Carriage · Inventory, Storage and Carriage
Wikily describes one action per Common, Uncommon, Rare and Legendary equipment rarity and always picking up Divine equipment and Rune Set items. Official 1.0.0i independently adds a confirmation for salvaging Divine items and makes Legendary Reins always picked up regardless of filters. These are separate safeguards for specific item classes, not proof that every valuable object is protected against every manual action.

Diagnose missing gold, missing materials or unwanted losses
| Observation | First check | Next controlled check |
|---|---|---|
| Cart remains mostly empty | Rarity is being sold or salvaged at pickup | Set one disposable rarity to Pick Up for a short observed run |
| Gold rises less after a rule change | Salvage is replacing a sale | Inspect whether the target material increased instead |
| No target material appears | The material does not belong to that rarity in the reference | Use an eligible test item at the blacksmith |
| A valuable item disappears | It may have been manually sold or destroyed | Check Buyback immediately; destruction has no documented buyback path |
| An upgrade never reaches the bag | Its rarity is assigned to disposal | Restore Pick Up while comparing the weak slot |
Evidence: Inventory, Storage and Carriage · Salvage · Inventory, Storage and Carriage
There is a timing disagreement worth resolving once. ApolloTrail’s through-1.0.0h guide says Auto-Sell processes carriage and inventory on return to town; AFK Meta and Wikily say equipment is processed at pickup during combat and uses no carriage slot. Read the current skill and carriage tooltip, then observe one eligible drop. A failure to gain gold at town is not informative if the gold was already credited at pickup. The article preserves both descriptions because a source review alone cannot establish when the behavior changed.

Questions before you automate salvage
Q: Should I salvage all Rare equipment?
Only after excluding upgrades and identifying a material requirement. ApolloTrail suggests unwanted Rare gear for materials; it does not say every Rare item is disposable.
Q: Does a higher rarity always give more Iron Ore?
No. Wikily lists Iron Ore only through Rare and uses different materials for Legendary and Divine. The slot exception for Back items also matters.
Q: Can I buy back a salvaged item?
The documented Buyback system is for NPC sales. Neither the official buyback announcement nor the reviewed salvage reference provides a salvage undo path.
Q: Does locking make automatic disposal completely safe?
The reviewed item-actions page describes bulk-sale exclusions and manual confirmations, but a current-client test of every automatic interaction remains absent. Preserve valuable candidates outside the tested disposal category.
Q: Which guide should I read if I need gold first?
Use Life Skills Gold Order to calculate prerequisites, then Loot Filter and Auto-Sell to set the equipment actions.
